MyEntreNet

Greetings!

Got plans for Monday?

Let’s face it, we all plan – holidays, graduations, retirement…but when thinking of your business do you really make the time to ‘
Plan for Profit’??

Take some time on Monday, November 13th at 7:00 PM to welcome Steve Sprague, Director of the Kirkwood Small Business Development Center in Marion, Iowa as the guest presenter.  In addition to being Center Director since 1995, Steve has owned a variety of businesses since 1968.  In his 28 plus years at Kirkwood, Steve has taught in the Agriculture department, coordinated continuing education classes, and has assisted more than 2000 businesses to grow by ‘planning for profit’ in his time at the Kirkwood SBDC!   Steve will help you develop a plan for boosting your bottom line!

TO PARTICIPATE, simply go to www.myentre.net and enter through the entrepreneurs’ side of the web application.  Click on “Online Seminar” in the left column and you are in.  (If you haven't done so, you will need to fill out a brief registration form to access MyEntreNet.)    There’s no need to pre-register, and as always, please feel free to contact Amy Kuhlers, Program Manager with UNI Regional Business Center – SBDC at amy.kuhlers@uni.edu if you have any questions!

Did You Know…

Research conducted by the Small Business Administration finds statistics that certainly paint a picture of the power of entrepreneurs:

·                55% of new job creation in the United States comes from existing businesses expanding.
·                44% of new job creation comes from new business startups.
·                Only 1% of new jobs come from business relocations.

Notable Quotables

The successful person makes a habit of doing what the failing person doesn't like to do. (Thomas Edison)

Knoxville Area Community Theatre

production of "You Can't Take It With You"

At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before we realize that if they are mad, the rest of the world is madder.  In contrast to these delightful people are the unhappy Kirbys.  The plot shows how Tony, attractive young son of the Kirbys, falls in love with Alice Sycamore and brings his parents to dine at the Sycamore home on the wrong evening.  The shock sustained by the Kirbys, shows Alice that marriage with Tony is out of the question.  The Sycamores, however, though sympathetic to Alice, find it hard to realize her point of view.  Meantime, Tony, who knows the Sycamores are right and his own people wrong, will not give her up, and in the end Mr. Kirby is converted to the happy madness of the Sycamores, particularly since he happens in during a visit by an ex-Grand Duchess, earning her living as a waitress.  No mention has as yet been made of the strange activities of certain members of the household engaged in the manufacture of fireworks; nor of the printing press set up in the parlor; nor of Rheba the maid and her friend Donald; nor of Grandpa's interview with the tax collector when he tells him he doesn't believe in the income tax.
