MyEntreNet
Greetings! Have you or anyone you know been the victim of identity theft? If so, you are not alone – Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the U.S. with over 10 million victims last year alone. If you’d like to learn what you can do to protect yourself and your business from becoming an unwilling participant - and learn the importance of credit and your credit score in today’s lending environment – plan on attending our Online Seminar Understanding Credit and Identity Theft for the Entrepreneur, on Monday November 27th at 7:00 PM.I’m happy to welcome back Katherine Cota-Uyar, Program Manager for the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, as guest speaker for this week’s presentation. Throughout her professional career, Katherine has assisted with the startup of over 2,000 businesses, and continues to provide businesses with valuable information through her entrepreneurial education programs at JPEC. TO PARTICIPATE, simply go to www.myentre.net and enter through the entrepreneurs’ side of the web application. Click on “Online Seminar” in the left column and you are in. (If you haven’t done so, you will need to fill out a brief registration form to access MyEntreNet.) There’s no need to pre-register. We are also pleased to be able to share with members the opportunity to attend the live webcast ‘When life gives you grapes, make fine wine” featuring former Iowan and entrepreneur, Dan Leese. Leese, a UNI alumnus, worked in the beer industry while attending UNI. He moved on to become the Managing Director for Berringer Blass Wine Estates, a subsidiary of Foster’s Brewing Company of Australia, managing 16 wineries in the U.S., Europe and Australia. Now he has started a new wine company, Axion, in Sonoma, California. Hear the story of how a guy who used to sell bagels on the corner of College and 23rd in Cedar Falls is now a big cheese in the wine business! The presentation can be viewed live on November 29th from 4 – 5 PM. To attend, go to www.jpec.org/leese.htm. A Thanksgiving Quote….Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not coincidence. (Erma Bombeck)
