MYENTRENET!!
Greetings! Business Networking. Some of us love it, and for others just the thought sets free a bushel of butterflies in the stomach! But networking is a key component of a successful business, and mastering effective networking skills can go a long way in helping to build your bottom line. If you could use a refresher course in networking skills, then you won’t want to miss our next online seminar Monday, February 5 at 7:00 pm, Networking 101! Join me as I welcome entrepreneur and experienced networker, Jo Dorhout, as she offers tips to battle the butterflies and help boost your business. Jo Dorhout is President of Virtual Interactive Families of Cedar Falls, which provides interactive videoconferencing via the Internet. Dorhout spent many years in education, both locally and internationally, as well as being involved in the health care industry, and has utilized expert networking skills to assist in both business and life. TO PARTICIPATE, simply go to www.myentre.net and enter through the entrepreneurs’ side of the web application. Click on “Online Seminar” in the left column and you’re in! (If you haven’t done so, you will need to fill out a brief registration form to access MyEntreNet.) There’s no need to pre-register. MyEntreNet Features As many of you know, we utilize the Online Seminar to offer regular informational webinars. In these sessions, participants can both view and hear the speaker(s) and the moderator, and can ask questions by way of text chat. Speakers can also utilize Power Point presentations to offer visual information. As mentioned above, to attend any of the events held through the Online Seminar, you need only go to www.myentre.net (register if necessary), and enter by clicking ‘Online Seminar’ on the left-hand navigator buttons. One important item to mention is that once you’ve entered the seminar room, you will need to type your name in the text box next to ‘Login’, and then click ‘Login’. If you do not login, you will still be able to attend the seminar, but will not have access to text chat. One other item to mention is the drop down box that defaults to ‘DSL’. Participants who might be attending through a dial-up connection or over a local area network (LAN) will want to update this selection to the appropriate connection. As always, if you ever experience difficulty or have questions, feel free to call! Change?? Change, like taxes, is inevitable. While change can mean opportunity, it can also be unsettling and chaotic! If you need to find balance through change, plan on joining our Online Seminar on February 12 when I’ll host Change Manager, Lin Chape, with insight on dealing with change. Notable Quotable: Progress lies not in enhancing what is, but in advancing toward what will be. (Kahlil Gibran)

The Iowa Architectural Foundation
The Iowa Architectural Foundation is dedicated to fostering an appreciation of design excellence while working for the preservation of our cultural heritage. The IAF supports programs, projects and publications that share this vision. It solicits, receives and expends gifts, grants and legacies for education and preservation of architecture and its allied arts and sciences. It also provides guidance to those groups, individuals, and companies who endeavor to improve their communities.Since its inception, the Iowa Architectural Foundation has undertaken numerous initiatives to increase the public awareness of architecture, contributing directly and through leveraged grants of more than $200,000 in project funding. The IAF has four main programs that help further its mission: Architecture in the Schools program, Community Design Program, the Community Design Excellence Awards, and Walking Tours. The Iowa Architectural Foundation invites Iowa’s citizens, communities and business-leaders to invest in a vision that recognizes the role of architecture and community design in enhancing the quality of life in our state. Architecture is the most public of arts. It touches all of us every day. Architecture needs better public understanding. Architects, public officials, businesses, and individuals must unite and encourage the creation of quality environments that serve public needs, strengthen communities, solve problems and enrich our lives.

Report Released by Iowa Hospital Association Shows
Report Released by Iowa Hospital Association Shows Knoxville Hospital & Clinics Impacts Local Economy KNOXVILLE – The Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) has released its annual report on the economic impact of health care on local counties and communities. The report shows that Knoxville Hospital & Clinics has a considerable effect on Marion County’s economy. According to the report, Knoxville Hospital & Clinics directly provides 188 health care jobs and an economic impact in worker salaries and benefits of $6,880,578. This direct economic impact is multiplied, however, because employees at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics spend much of their income to purchase goods and services from other local businesses. They pay sales taxes and property taxes. Other businesses hire employees to serve the needs of the hospital and its employees. The IHA estimates that Knoxville Hospital & Clinics has fueled the local economy through 334 total jobs, $11,049,183 in total economic impact and $2,692,817 in taxable retail sales. “We were surprised at the level of economic impact that our health care facility has on our community,” said Ann Helwig, CEO at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics. “Every employee at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics takes their role and responsibility of delivering quality health care very seriously and these figures released by IHA indicate that our employees are very important to the Knoxville community.” Knoxville Hospital & Clinics, a Critical Access Hospital serving Marion County and the surrounding area, is dedicated to providing personal, progressive quality health care with compassion. For more information regarding this release and other happenings at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics, call the Public Relations office at (641) 842-1418.
