IT’S NOT THE PROBLEM, IT’S HOW YOU SOLVE IT

We all have problems in our personal and business life all the time. Problems large and small that we must solve or cope with almost every day. Your business is no exception and unwanted situations will pop up without warning. So having problems is not an unusual or bad thing, it’s just part of business and everyone has them. With that said, it’s really what you do about the problem that really counts. How you solve it or make adjustments to side step it.

The first thing you need to do is step back and see what is really wrong and all the aspects of it. Knowing all the facts, no matter how negative, is the first thing that will help you find a solution. Even is you have bills that are overdue, get a total of all of them so there are no surprises later. You don’t want to come up with a plan to pay them, only to find that there are more later. Work on the entire problem so that once you solve it, it’s over. Hopefully what you learned along the way will keep you from being in the same situation again.

When your problem is customer related, you will not only want to come up with a mutual solution, but save them as a customer as well. If it turns into an argument and you win but lose the future business, did you really win? Sometimes being right is not only what matters and compromise might be a better way.

Compromise not only gives both sides a reasonable solution but helps save face as well. You don’t want to enrage or embarrass the customer so they will find it difficult to buy from you again. You might even ask for their input when deciding on a possible solution. Look at the long term value of the customer before taking a chance on losing them.

Just think that the solution will be remembered much longer than the original problem. In many cases, a great solution can make a business relationship even stronger. They will know that if anything comes up in the future, they can count on you to make it right. And think of the referral power it will have. They may spread the word that you’re a reliable place to do business with. So put the solution before personal gain and it will pay off in the future.

March Idea-Letter

Horizon Federal Savings Jumps On Board
