THE PRODUCT FACTOR
The product element is one of the most critical in your mix. If the product element is off, you won’t have anything to sell that your customers want to buy. Therefore, you don’t have any reason to be in the marketplace. This is why many small businesses are either barely hanging on or going out of business.Regardless of the level of service you provide and the low, low price you offer, the product must be wanted or needed. Whether you are dealing with a tangible product such as hardware, or an intangible product such as computer repair, there must be demand for what you are selling. We have found that businesses that are successful in the product area realize that customers are buying more of their business than just the product. Here is a shortlist of what customers are really buying: They are buying you: your personality, your appearance, your sense of humor, and your friendly nature. They are buying your service: the way they are greeted, treated, thanked, and rewarded. They are buying your reputation: your trustworthiness and your integrity. They are buying your appearance and ambience: how you are perceived in your community. They are buying your entire package. Excerpt from Up Against the Wall-Marts

Downtown Parking
One of the most often heard complaints we hear in the chamber office is the lack of parking in the downtown area for visitors and business patrons. I know this is not new information to many of you but we need to address the problem. There is a three hour parking limit in all parking areas located around the square and one block in each direction. Beyond the one block range there is no time limit. As business owners, managers, or employees, we need to start observing these regulations and leaving these parking areas for patrons of the courthouse and downtown businesses. There are well over 200 parking spots on Marion Street, Montgomery Street, 4th Street and 1st Street for your vehicles. Please use these locations so more stringent parking regulations do not need to be enforced. Should you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact us at 828-7555. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation and support.
