The Knoxville Ambassadors were on hand to present Sherry Smith at Tomorrow’s Treasure’s with a certificate for 20 yrs of service. Sherry started custom framing in her home then moved to her downtown location in 1992. With 20 years of Framing experience, Tomorrow’s Treasure’s has a wide variety of products including limited edition prints, framing, bear collectables, purses, jewelry, candles, dolls and home décor. Tomorrow’s Treasure’s has just added a laser engraver to top it all! Congratulations Sherry and Tomorrow’s Treasure’s on 20 years of continued success in Knoxville!

Call us at 641-828-7555.

Nationals Info

It’s that time of year again and the Knoxville Chamber is in full swing getting ready for a week of fun and excitement. Lots of exciting things are going on and we hope everyone is gearing up.

Knoxville will have lots of tourists visiting our town and we need to be ready for them. Let’s all clean up outside our businesses, water the planters, have the inside looking good and your employees ready. Let’s strive to bring these tourists downtown and spend those dollars.

The Knoxville Chamber of Commerce will be having lots of events on the square during that week and we hope everyone in some way will participate.

Saturday will start off with the Bizarre Bazaar, which will bring people downtown early that morning, then at 10:00 am the Knoxville National Sprint Car Parade will begin. If you haven't signed-up for the parade please do so as soon as possible.

The Knoxville Chamber will be parking cars at Young’s Park everyday. If you are going to the races or are asked about parking send everyone to Young’s Park. The Chamber also serves pancakes every morning at the Knoxville National Guard Armory.

Finally, The Knoxville Chamber of Commerce provides the shuttle service during the week of the Nationals. This service is for our visitors transportation. Last year local people caused problems and we need all the help we can get keeping this under control. So, if you could spare a little time the Chamber is asking for adult volunteers to jump on the trolley for a round, to help maintain control and report any problems to the Chamber that may occur.

So, start your engines and let’s have a great week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Marion County Democratic Party is presenting a luncheon after the parade on Saturday, August 12th, beginning at 11:30 at the Swamp Fox Restaurant featuring special guest Senator John Edwards , as well as candidates for state and local offices. Tickets in advance are $20 for adults and $10 for children and may be obtained by calling 828-7116.

K-ACT announces fall 2006 show
By Gary Schumacher

Knoxville Area Community Theatre announced at its July 12th meeting that the fall 2006 production would be “You Can’t Take It With You” by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman.  This is a comedy in three acts.  This show is being directed by Lana Pol.
At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before we realize that if they are mad, the rest of the world is madder.  In contrast to these delightful people are the unhappy Kirbys.  The plot shows how Tony, attractive young son of the Kirbys, falls in love with Alice Sycamore and brings his parents to dine at the Sycamore home on the wrong evening.  The shock sustained by the Kirbys, shows Alice that marriage with Tony is out of the question.  The Sycamores, however, though sympathetic to Alice, find it hard to realize her point of view.  Meantime, Tony, who knows the Sycamores are right and his own people wrong, will not give her up, and in the end Mr. Kirby is converted to the happy madness of the Sycamores, particularly since he happens in during a visit by an ex-Grand Duchess, earning her living as a waitress.  No mention has as yet been made of the strange activities of certain members of the household engaged in the manufacture of fireworks; nor of the printing press set up in the parlor; nor of Rheba the maid and her friend Donald; nor of Grandpa's interview with the tax collector when he tells him he doesn't believe in the income tax.
Auditions will be held at the VAMC Auditorium in Knoxville on Saturday, August 19th at 9:00 a.m., Monday, August 21st at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 22nd at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, August 24th at 7:00 p.m.  There are roles for 9 men, 7 women and 3 extras.  For a list of characters, please visit our website at www.k-act.org.  To check out a perusal script, please contact Gary at 641-842-2943.

How can the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce assist you with your business:

Comments and Suggestions:

WHY I BELONG TO THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE...

Because I have a business stake in this community which can be best safeguarded by working with others through the Chamber of Commerce to protect and advance all business. I help ensure this community’s progress which in turn ensures the success of my business. It is only fair for me to support the Chamber since I reap benefits through the concerted planning, counsel and action that is best obtained through the work of the Chamber of Commerce.

Because my support is “plowed back” to yield many-fold benefits in new industries, increased payrolls, health, safety, legislation, business protection and community advancement.

Because I believe that the person who helps his or her community through active participation in the work of the Chamber of Commerce will develop their power and broaden their own views.

Because through the Chamber of Commerce I can best discharge my obligations to this community. I realize every man owes a debt to the community that cannot be paid in taxes-a debt of personal service.

Because the Chamber of Commerce cannot carry out its broad program of work to protect and advance business without personal service and adequate financial support.

Because the Chamber of Commerce unifies the public spirit of my community and directs it to useful and constructive channels.

Because the Chamber of Commerce helps create and express sound opinions on questions affecting the welfare of my community.

Because the most effective constructive influence is the force of organized business functioning through the Chamber of Commerce for community betterment.
